REVESTECH's CEO explains at Rotary Club Alicante Lucentum Puerto how AI has saved his company more than €500,000

On Tuesday 13 October we filled the dining room. It was no accident: we had come to hear Miguel Martínez Gil, chief executive of Revestech, an Alicante waterproofing company he runs together with his father and his brothers.

Among the club's guests were Raúl Ruiz Callado, Vice-Rector for Students at the University of Alicante, and Nuria Montes, secretary general of HOSBEC.

He had announced his talk with a line that promised a fight. «Artificial intelligence is not about ChatGPT. It is about money.» On his first slide he put it another way, calmer and more demanding: «Stop using AI the same way every time». And underneath it, the promise he had come to keep: how artificial intelligence works inside a real factory, and what the work it does would cost outside.

He did not bring a presentation. He brought his company

The first thing he did was open his computer and show what is inside. Not slides about what technology promises, but the real system Revestech works with every day, with its folders, its documents and its customers inside.

The two development tools he works with, he explained, are Claude Code and Antigravity. With them the company builds its own internal solutions instead of buying them outside.

He explained that what he has built is not a program but a folder structure that works as the company's memory. Who everyone is, how the house works, how it sells, what products there are, what prices each customer has. On top of that he has been building what he called «skills»: instructions that teach the machine how the repetitive jobs are done in his company. Laying out a catalogue in the corporate colours, for example. Once taught, it never has to be explained again.

And above that, the agents. Programs that read that structure, understand where everything is and set to work without anyone leading them by the hand.

What they already have running

He showed separate pieces and they all had the same shape: something that used to cost time or money and now comes out by itself.

Meetings are transcribed and what was said is folded into that memory, so the system knows what was agreed last week. Sales scripts and customer proposals come out of there. So does the competitor analysis. And on the production side they have cameras watching the manufacturing process.

He insisted that none of this is expensive. What is expensive, he said, is not knowing how far the tool goes. That was probably the idea that landed hardest at the table: the competitive advantage is not in having the program, which anyone can buy, but in having taken the trouble to build the system underneath.

The numbers, which is what we had come to hear

Towards the end, one of the members asked him to close with figures, which was what the title had promised. Miguel gave a simple example: what it would cost to commission a particular piece of his digital business outside, against what it costs them to do it with their own system. The difference was two orders of magnitude.

All told, he put the savings the company has accumulated at more than €500,000, split across three headings: lower costs in euros, fewer working hours and less dependence on outside suppliers.

Thank you

Our president, Andrea Corbalán, presented him with the club pennant at the close.

Thank you, Miguel, for not coming to tell us what is said about artificial intelligence and coming instead to show us what you do with it. Which is a good deal harder and a good deal more useful.
